Hello.
I'm curious as to which y'all prefer. This mainly pertains to whether or not your rollover images have text as part of the image, or if your rollover images are set as a background image and you insert the text via markup.
The only benefit I can really see to using images with text as part as the image is you could use any kind of font that you want, since it wouldn't require that the user have the font installed to view it. A downside is that it seems you would have less opportunities to customise the navigation with javascript. I don't know what all you could do, as I don't know JS, but it seems that using images as a whole would disallow you from using any JS functions that would manipulate text.
I have, however, seen image based navigation before. I suppose if you do it right, you can pull it off, but the only reason I can think of that would make someone want to use image based navigation would be if they are not that good at CSS, but rollovers aren't that hard to do anyway. -_-
Before I knew how to do rollovers, I always used image-based navigation. But, I realized that I was often changing the titles of my navigation tabs, so I just used bg-image based navigation instead, to allow for quick text editing.
